About Our Therapists

Heather Little photoHeather H. Little, MA CCC-SLP, is a Certified Speech/Language Pathologist who has spent 22 years providing direct speech and language therapy to children ages one through high school, nine years as a public school Speech Pathologist in the Rockwood Special School District, and eight years as a First Steps provider. She holds a BHS in Communication Disorders from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Indiana University and is certified in the S.P.I.R.E. reading program. Heather holds a Missouri State License and Teaching Certificate as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competence. Heather is an expert in areas of articulation and language disorders, specializing in reading comprehension and written expression, and she has a unique approach to correcting the /r/ sound that consistently generates success. Heather is passionate about providing a team approach to therapy including teachers, parents, and the student. She believes in improving the child's self confidence and helping them with all aspects of learning.

When not working and being a mom, Heather enjoys exercising, reading, sports, and watching movies. Her favorite: “The King’s Speech” of course!

 

Melissa Travis photoMelissa Travis, MS CCC, is a Speech-Language Pathologist with 30 years of experience in a variety of settings within the pediatric (Birth – 3), preschool, and school age (K-6) populations. Melissa has treated disabilities and disorders that include apraxia, sound system disorders, language delay, autism, PDD/ASD, Asperger’s Syndrome, dysfluency and Down’s Syndrome. She has worked in private practice as well as both public and private schools. She holds Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Speech Pathology from the California State University at Sacramento, a Missouri State License and Teaching Certificate, a Certificate of Clinical Competence and a Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential. She is trained in the S.P.I.R.E. reading program and provides instruction in reading comprehension and decoding. Her passion is helping children find a successful way to communicate and interact with those around them. She feels that collaboration with families, professionals and other team members is crucial to providing the best possible treatment outcomes for the child at home and school.

Melissa resides in Wildwood, Missouri. In her spare time she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and two children, Pilates, spinning and cooking.

 

Julie McDonald photoJulie McDonald, MS CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist who joined Speech-LanguageCommunications in the Fall of 2010. She earned her Bachelor degree in Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Missouri – Columbia and her Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. She also holds a Missouri State License and Teaching Certificate and a Certificate of Clinical Competence. Julie also works for Rockwood School District in Early Childhood Special Education. Julie enjoys working with children of all ages, helping them gain confidence by improving their speech and language skills. She strives to make therapy sessions fun and engaging while also providing families with the skills to improve their child’s communication outside of therapy.

When she’s not working, Julie likes reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband, Ian, and children, Graham and Piper.

 

Emily Crnko photoEmily Crnko, MS CCC-SLP, received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Speech Language Pathology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She also holds a Missouri State License and Teaching Certificate and a Certificate of Clinical Competence. Since then, Emily has concentrated on serving children in local school districts for the past 19 years. She currently is employed full time for the Rockwood Early Childhood program working with 3-5 year-olds in the special education program. In 2012, she joined the Speech Language Communications, LLC team and is working with children of all ages.  Emily's area of expertise is remediating severe phonological and apraxic disorders; however, she also has a wide range of experience with articulation and language delays.

During her free time, Emily enjoys walking her two labs, running, and gardening.

 

Jennifer Rozier photoJennifer Rozier, MA CCC-SLP, has been working as an SLP for 11 years. She received her Bachelors degree and Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from St. Louis University. She holds a Missouri licensure and teaching certificate as well as a certificate of clinical competence. She began working full time for Rockwood Early Childhood in 2008 and part-time for Speech-Language Communications, LLC in 2014. She enjoys helping children of all ages reach their potential and become confident communicators.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, running, and playing volleyball.

 

Maggie Stewart photoMaggie Stewart, MA CCC-SLP, received a Bachelor of Health Science in Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Communication Science and Disorders from Saint Louis University in 2008. Upon graduation from SLU, Maggie began working as a Speech-Language Pathologist with kindergarten - 6th grade children with a variety of speech and language abilities in the school setting. In addition, Maggie spent 4 years working with adults with neurogenic speech and language disorders in a rehabilitation hospital. Maggie started working part time with SLC, LLC in 2016. Maggie enjoys and has experiences working with a variety of childhood speech and language disorders. She is particularly passionate about helping students learn strategies for increasing language skills. Maggie holds a Missouri state license, teaching certificate, and certificate of clinical competence. She has recently completed the program for the Down Syndrome Education Specialist Certificate. When Maggie is not working as a SLP, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. They like to enjoy all the fun activities that St. Louis has to offer and visit with friends and family.

 

Katherine Sweeney photoKatherine Sweeney joined Speech – Language Communications, LLC in the Fall of 2018.  She has been practicing for over 10 years in a variety of settings. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech – Language – Hearing Association and a Missouri License to practice Speech – Language Pathology, issued by the Missouri Board of Healing Arts.

Katherine is a passionate educator who enjoys helping her students grow and realize their utmost potential. She feels team member collaboration is one of the most effective ways to see rapid growth. She also believes that a strong, open relationship between her and the learner is critical. She engages and motivates students by using materials that are developmentally appropriate and specific to their interests.

Currently, she enjoys assisting children who have been diagnosed with speech and language disorders. She enjoys the challenge of growing expertise in new areas – right now, she’s currently focusing on helping children who struggle with reading. She’s known to do “whatever it takes” to help the children in her care meet their goals. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters (14 and 11), gardening, and playing tennis.

 

Jennifer Hill photoJennifer Hill, M.A., CCC-SLP is a certified speech language pathologist who has worked with children with a variety of speech and language disorders for the past 17 years in different settings including private clinics, homes, daycares, and the public school setting. Jenn has worked for Rockwood School district since 2004 and joined Speech Language Communications part-time in December 2018. She specializes in treatment of children on the Autism Spectrum, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, fluency, phonology and articulation, assistive technology, and expressive language delays. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology from St. Louis University. Jenn holds a Missouri state license, teaching certificate, and a certificate of clinical competence. She loves working with young children and seeing the rapid progress they are able to make with their communication skills in just a short amount of time. She believes in a collaborative team approach and enjoys working with teachers, parents, and other therapists to help facilitate growth in communication skills across settings. Jenn is the mom of 3 kids and enjoys cooking, cardio- kickboxing, reading, spending time with friends and family, and traveling in her spare time.

 

Kelly Marquitz photoKelly Marquitz, MA CCC-SLP, is a Speech Language Pathologist with 22 years' experience, primarily working with elementary-school-aged children. She currently works for Special School District in the Kirkwood School District and works part-time for Speech-Language Communications, LLC. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Miami University (of Ohio) and a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Indiana University. She also holds a Missouri State License and Teaching Certificate and a Certificate of Clinical Competence. Kelly has significant experience with phonological disorders, articulation disorders, expressive and receptive language impairments, and pragmatic language intervention. Kelly believes students should be actively involved in their therapy through participating in goal setting, charting their progress, and self-monitoring.

When not working, Kelly enjoys watching her 3 children in their extra-curricular activities, reading, and exercising.
